For those that are avid fishermen one of the best ways to catch a fish is through the use of live bait. One of the biggest advantages of live bait is the fact that is more similar and often the same thing that fish look for to feed on in the lakes, rivers and ocean. The live bait offers a scent the fish can pick up on and often moves in a way that the fish will notice it as that is what they are looking for. One of the most common types of live bait is worms and has been a staple for most lake fishermen for decades. Leeches are also commonly used and although you will not want to get them stuck on you but are great for catching all sorts of fish. In the open water like the ocean and even some river and select lake fishing for larger fish minnows are used and are great because it is natural food source for the likes of salmon, Ahi Tuna, and mahi mahi as well as other select game fish. With all the different live bait that is available it is always good to check and see what the local fishermen are using to hook up with the fish that they are fishing for. It is important to check your game regulations to see that live bait can be used as some lakes and rivers do not allow it during certain seasons and in particular areas.
